Hazrat Zaynab bint Khuzaymah (RA)





Introduction

Zaynab was the daughter of Khuzaimah ibn Abdullah from the Sa’sa’a tribe. A short while after marrying Hazrat Hafsa (RA), the Prophet (SAW) married Hazrat Zaynab bint Khuzaymah, whose husband had been martyred in the Battle of Uhud.



Early life

She was first married to Hazrat Tufayl bin Harris. After divorced, she was married to Tufayl‘s brother Hazrat Ubaydah (RA). He got martyred in the battle of Badr. She was much depressed due to this incident. The Holly prophet (SAW) married her. The other reason of this marriage was the tension between Zaynab’s tribe and the Muslims after some events in the 3rd year after the emigration, this marriage had the role of relieving the tension and improving relations. She lived eight months with the Prophet (SAW).



She was called Umm Al-Masakeen)

Hazrat Zaynab bint Khuzaymah (RA), was very generous lady of Arab. She always helped the poor and the needy. Due to her generosity, she was known as the “Mother of the Poor” (Umm Al-Masakeen)



Her distinctions



Breathed her last

She (RA) passed away after two or three months (eight, according to a narration). Her funeral prayer was led by the Prophet (SAW) himself and she was buried in the Jannat al-Baqi Cemetery.
